We would like to introduce to you the REBOUND project, kicked off on 1 February 2022 under the Erasmus+ programme. The two-year project is led by the Technological University of the Shannon (formerly Limerick Institute of Technology, Ireland) working with five partner organisations.
The aim of the project is to improve the resilience of rural communities, by analysing their needs and developing training programmes. These are turned into a pilot available for all.
Involved partners have been busy compiling knowledge in the field of rural community resilience and well-being over the past year. The main instrument to achieve this objective was a questionnaire distributed to a broad range of stakeholders to gain community, practitioner, agency and policy-maker insights into rural community resilience. Also, a series of case-studies, interviews and focus groups were carried out by the partnership.
Respondents proposed various approaches and indicators to measure rural community resilience, subdivided in quantitative and qualitative categories. Finally, respondents evaluated the role of education and training as fundamental for the promotion of rural community resilience.
The REBOUND partnership will continue to work in 2023 on the development of an accredited training unit on rural community resilience.
