The European Committee of the Regions has launched a call for Cohesion Local stories, encouraging local and regional authorities to share inspiring stories that highlight the added value of cohesion policy in Europe. With the debate on the future of cohesion policy already underway, the EU is looking to reinforce it as a key European investment policy that promotes the harmonious development of EU's regions, cities and rural areas.
The EU is seeking evidence to demonstrate that cohesion policy plays a unique and fundamental role in fighting social, economic and territorial disparities. The significance of the new cohesion policy for rural communities across Europe cannot be underestimated, as it has the potential to facilitate efforts to achieve transformative change, leading to more connected, prosperous, resilient and stronger rural areas by 2040.
Local and regional authorities are encouraged to go beyond showcasing a single project co-financed by structural funds and demonstrate the impact that one or multiple projects have on local communities and citizens' daily life.
Successful cohesion local stories will be collected and showcased in a new interactive map available on the #CohesionAlliance webpage and the European Committee of the Regions’ website.
