Rural Vision

Cross-cutting

Six actions within the rural action plan address issues that cut across the various themes and sectors covered in the rural vision, such as implementing rural proofing, guiding stakeholders on how to use EU funds, improving rural evidence and data, and proposing the rural pact.

Rural proofing

Rural proofing means reviewing policies through a rural lens, to make these policies fit for purpose for those who live and work in rural areas.

Improving rural evidence and data

The new rural observatory, improved rural statistics and a definition of functional rural areas contribute to improving knowledge and data on rural areas.

Proposing a rural pact

The Commission has proposed a rural pact to national, regional, local authorities and stakeholders committing to address the specific needs of rural areas.
